BPS prides itself as an all-volunteer organization. Volunteers are essential to preserving our railroad heritage. We offer a plethora of opportunities to explore your rail interest or learn something new. Here are few volunteer opportunities;

    • Station Agents

    * Must have prior experience and/or complete our training program.

  • Rail Bike Operations
    • Conductors/Guides **

  • Restoration Projects
    • Brooks Railroad Station
    • Coach Restoration/Rehabilitation

  • Track Maintenance
  • Keeping Culverts Clean
  • Equipment Maintenance

    • MOW Equipment

  • Administrative
    • Answering phones and/or responding to inquiries
    • Grant Writers
    • Web Site Development/Maintenance

    We offer Volunteers a flexible schedule. Opportunities exist to volunteer during the week. Our work day starts at 9 AM and conclude at 5 PM. We break for lunch. Volunteers meet at the Brooks Station, 31 Veterans Highway Brooks, ME. Projects are assigned based on interest and experience. All efforts will be made to give everyone a choice of projects.

    Please be prepared for work days by wearing boots, weather appropriate clothing, hats and gloves. Those interested in track work should plan to wear steel toed boots. Please ensure you bring water.
